Sydney University Dramatic Society & Other

In 2017, 2018 & 2019 I was heavily involved in the Sydney University Dramatic Society, first as a member, then on the executive as Cellar Officer (Technical manager) and then as President.

As a Cellar Officer, I helped facilitate and meet the technical needs of most of the ~30 shows that occurred throughout the year. This included attending and supervising Bump ins & outs, negotiating and collaborating with designers, troubleshooting and solving technical issues, operating shows when needed, ensuring WHS standards are met and maintaining reporting lines with the exec and our parent governing body.

As President, I was the executive head of the Society, responsible for the ultimate success of all the operations of the Society throughout the year. My responsibilities in this role included managing the executive team of 12 people across 9 portfolios, working closely with the ~30 shows that occur within the society over the year, chairing weekly general and executive meetings which included facilitating voting on shows and decisions, connecting with external companies and groups to facilitate opportunities for members and maintain the easy running of the society, providing guidance to members who need it and other general responsibilities. Over this year, we had over 30 shows go on, we successfully launched a new website (sudsusyd.org), solidified a positive relationship with the Sydney Theatre Company, organised multiple free workshops for members with professional artists, successfully passed a constitutional amendment to formalise an important executive position, streamlined our financial systems by integrating bank transfers for repayments, and many other great achievements.

Also during 2019, I helped facilitate MOIST (A Mishap-Ridden Organisation of Improvised Stagecraft & Theatre), which was our attempt to break the record for longest continuous improvised theatre piece. With over 70 performers, we successfully improvised for over 168 hours straight (7 days) and raised over $1500 for cancer hospital Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, with whom SUDS has a long-standing relationship. Additional Information can be found at https://www.sudsusyd.org/2019/moist.

I have also been a performer in various comedy & improvisation performances, and helped in a less-official capacity on a number of shows, which are listed below.
